Beer. Nature's Unstoppable Force.
Heh..heh...I used to watch this kid run at Sunshine Speedway in Largo, FL on Friday nights back in '87 or so. Different High Schools in the area had unofficial teams that would run on Friday nights against each other. This kid would sneak his grandfather's Rolls Royce out and run it. LOL. He'd soap up the windows with his H.S. name, and I'd have to give him credit, he seemingly didn't abuse the car, but stayed true to his dial in no matter how soft it was. He could go deep into the brackets with that whale.

I'll get my big thought hammer out and try this one more time lol.
The Destroyer is a turn key race bike for those who want to drag race an American V-Twin,it's not built for heads up racing against sportbikes.
You can race the Destroyer class at AHDRA or race brackets at NHRA since the NHRA has no cruiser bike class.
If it did the Rod would be racing the VTX,Raider,Hammer,Vulcan etc not sportbikes,it's based on a V-Twin cruiser so it's apples and oranges and which tastes better comparing sportbikes to cruisers in any venue.
Waste of money?.....nothing more than opinion, all out racing costs a lot more, this bike is limited to what it is at the AHDRA.
They also have a drag'n bagger class of all things for those that want to drag race an FLH with a 120" race only crate motor, same deal limited racing so it's rider skill more than the bikes involved.
Again, waste of money?.....well beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if one thinks a drag race ElectraGlide is a beautiful thing and has the money to spend it's not a waste.

So maybe you think any V-Twin drag bike is a waste of money but consider the fact that the world record holding supercharged top fuel drag bike based on a Suzuki is only
0.351 seconds quicker than the fastest Harley.

Nope, I sure don't, I looked up motorcycle drag racing brackets and got the official rules, got them mixed up. And once again I am certainly not a HD hater by any means. They certainly have their niche in life. That pic you posted recently of your HD at the end of the pavement where the snow starts is not only one of (if not the) nicest HDs I have ever seen, but that photo represents what I consider to be the american dream. If I wasn't so broke I would have one about like that. The last time I rolled over the beartooth this guy showed up in the campground in Red Lodge on a HD about like yours with a trailer. Nothing you don't usually see around but a half an hour later his trailer had unfolded into not only a tent camper but had a large seating area with a mosquito screen attached to it. I had to go tell him it was one of the neatest things I had ever seen. When we were talking he got out a barbecue and rack of ribs and told me to come back at eight for dinner. To me that was the ultimate traveling machine, better than an RV in my opinion. But seeing a HD with a drag tire and wheelie bar from the factory is like seeing a CBR with floor boards, suicide shifter, and drink holder.

Only?
The margin of victory would be 42.10366 yards while the faster bike is driveing away at 10mph at the line.
One tenth of the course.
Still mighty fast.

I friend from another forum corrected me on this.
Here's what he had to say:
"Acceleration wasn't constant, but at a fixed point in time (when the bikes cross the line), bike 1 was averaging 227.861211807 feet per second.
Bike 2 was averaging 214.84375 feet per second.
At the moment Bike 1 crossed, it was 79.97928 feet ahead of Bike 2.
It wouldn't matter if Bike 2 had a stronger second gear and made better time in the early part of the race, or had a stronger top gear and began closing the gap, the average speed per second would have been the same, based on the ET."
So 26.65976 yards ahead and pulling away quickly.

AFA waste of money.....I know it's all relative. I grew up around racing. It's all aabout throwing good money after bad so to speak! I was once told that racing is a great way to lose a fortune!
My perspective and I guess point, on "waste" of money, is that it's faaaar more expensive to wring hp and thousandth's of a second out of a V-twin, than it is an I-4.

Forgot to mention the H-D was not supercharged and set a record for the quickest naturally asperated top fuel bike.
Keep in mind those are record passes by both bikes, the supercharged Suzuki and the naturally asperated H-D so in heads up racing it is usually much closer.

Racing got underway once the low lying fog began to clear on the first day of the Manufacturers Spring Cup at South Georgia Motorsport Park in Valdosta, GA at the April 8th - 10th three day event.
The Manufacturers Spring Cup race provides the opportunity for two different classes of Top Fuel Nitro drag bikes to compete; the supercharged inline metric bikes piloted by the likes of Larry "Spiderman" McBride and the V-Twin Harley-Davidson Nitro burning monsters campaigned by the legendary Ray Price Racing team.
Normally the four cylinder metric bikes and the two cylinder Harley-Davidson bikes do not compete against one another in the top fuel class due to the metric bikes being supercharged and the V-Twins being naturally asperated. "Because of the uniqueness of the race and the fact that South Georgia Motorsport Park is such an exceptional track it is always fun to compete against the supercharged bikes", remarked Price.
During Saturday qualifying the Ray Price Harley-Davidson / Akea sponsored drag bike put down some impressive numbers. Tommy Grimes twisted the throttle in the first round to post a 6.50 ET at 227.08 mph. In the second round Grimes ran a 6.39 ET at 217 mph which was good enough to be the top qualifyer amongst the V-Twin Harley's. Going into Sunday's eliminations the Ray Price Race team was one of six Top Fuel teams, three supercharged metric bikes and three V-Twin Harley-Davidson's, all competiting in the Top Fuel class for a chance for a spot to stand in the winners circle.
In the first round Grimes brought the 1,000 horsepower Top Fuel Nitro Harley drag bike to the line to face the supercharged metric "Redneck" Exprss of Chris Hand. Winning the round on a "holeshot" Grimes crossed the finishline with an impressive 6.35 ET at 218.34 mph.
In the next round Grimes faced Larry "Spiderman" McBride in the semifinals. Grimes made it a very close race even though the supercharged bike riden by McBride had a performance advantage over the Ray Price Harley-Davidson / Akea sponsored V-Twin Harley. McBride won the round with a 6.271 ET at 230.44 mph but not before Grimes ran an impressive 6.39 ET at 224.43 mph.
As you said, still pretty damn quick.
