Harness Boots
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to find the right pair of boots. I got some harness river road boots, before trying them in person and i was disappointed with them. I'm trying to find a leather boot with harness that is sort of a hard leather. The thing I didn't like about the river road boots was that they were a little flimsy and not very tight near the ankle area at all. I'm looking for something that closer to the fit of a cowboy boot. If you know of any boots that you would recommend to me please do, the only thing is i am looking for boots that are brown. so no black boots please. if you could attach links and or recommend brand names i would really like it. Also would you found you like and didn't like about boots would be nice.
thank you,
Jadex

Check out a Red Wing store. They make very nice boots.

timberlands i herd ate nice, i wear redwings, also try www.limmerboots.com they make real nice custom fit boots. i wear a red wing 4417 as my daily boot. got em on right now. might take them back becuase my feet still hurt ( i work on concrete, and hard rubber doesn't help) and its been almost 30 days.

i'll second the redwing endorsement. my last pair survived my crash w/ plenty of leather to spare. and they are plenty comfy. i do replace the inner sole with an upgrade.
personally i like the 2244's (1444's for softer toe) , but in a pull on (cowboy style) i'd go with the 4445 assuming you can live with steeltoe.
1st thing i look for is waterproof. then insulated, then if i can find a "reinforced" safety toe im sold. not a big fan of true steeltoes as the steel doesnt stretch with the rest of the boot and it gets uncomfortable for daily wear (from my experience w a 14E) . i keep a pair of steeltoes in the closet for when im going in to hardhat zones.
been forever since i owned a pair of durango's, only pair i owned lasted several years of daily wear ( w/ resoling) and were decent boots, far less protection and ankle support than the redwings but it was a true cowboy boot not a work boot.
went through a few pairs of doc martins also but I dont think they make a pull up and the leather is softer than redwings.
ps. you might look for "engineer" boots w/ adjustable straps. it'll shore up that looseness in the ankle. 2991 and 2992 in the redwings.
