V Star 1300 Speedometer sticks

Need Help. My wife's 1300 V Star has an intermittent speedometer sticking. Been to the dealer 4 times but can't find the cause. Yamaha Customer Service says this is a unique problem that they have never heard of. (no help) If anyone has had this issue, please let me know all the details and if you had to go to a Yamaha dealer to get a fix. I would like to ram this back at Yamaha...! I need a fix, parts, where fixed and parts came from etc. Please help. Thanks, Fluteman

That bike has an electronic speedo, driven by a sensor on the transmission case. It could be a defective sensor, intermittent connection issue, or a physical problem in the speedo itself.
