If you discount the slight shadow (which makes it look like you have better contact toward the middle than you actually have), that's exactly what I was referring to before.
You have 25% or less of the actual tread in use. That means about an inch and a half of actual tread area plus some sidewall actually touching the pavement.
As was suggested somewhere, maybe here, I can't bring myself to say ANYTHING good about that.........so I will just shut up, for the moment.
I wish you good luck........because I think you need it.

As you can see in the pic there is about 25% of the tread and a bit of the sidewall touching the pavement. This is a maximum lean angle. As you see I can't lean much more.
I have put about over 18,000 miles on two of the tires. Over 36,000 miles total. On the edge of the sidewall about 1/2 inch from the tread there is a groove in this tire. I have watched that groove to see how much actually wears off the side wall. It is about 1/32nd inch deep according to my tread depth gauge. On my last tire it almost disappeared after 18,000 miles. The sidewall was still thicker than a new MC tire. I also wore 3 sets of GMan's titanium draggers off in the process.
In the pic it as at maximum lean. In a corner where I normally lean, it has about half tread and not any on the side wall. I am also not usually doing 70 mph while scraping either.( although it has been known to have happened.)
Not much luck needed . Just have to do the research and go by my own findings and experiments. It's what works for me. It may not be for everybody.
I never have had anyone say it isn't safe after following me through the twisties. They are usually too busy trying to keep up. Unless they are on crotch rocket.
Ok I finally got a decent video of this new tire at high speed on a sustained corner.
Here is a youtube link.... at around 50 seconds in I am doing 75 on a long sweeping corner. At around 2:00 minutes I am coming back thru the same corner the other direction also at 75 mph. The tire contact patches look excellent to me.
Am I the only one looking out from under the bike at the scenery?
LOL ,.., you must have had on your good sunglasses to see much scenery... ! But this high desert area has amazing vistas of 5 nearby 10,000 foot + mountains and deep canyons and best of all, dozens of lovely roads with no houses or people where you can just ride.....

All I get is corn and bean fields. If I were to cruise to Colorado to see the mountains, I would fall asleep in Nebraska from the boredom and end up back in Iowa (Is this Heaven?).
OK! finally got a decent video of a motorcycle tyre to compare to a darkside tire.... my husband just got a Dunlop 404 on his rear..so I put the camera under his bike and took this video with him riding the same corners at the same speed.. The MC tire doesnt appear to me to put any more rubber on the road than the CT.... my CT video is in post 45 of this thread. It also shows why the MC tire wears out in the center fast...!! ( 36# air pressure in the tire as recommended ).
Well this is a very good thread. I like the effort you put into it and backing up your decision. When I first started reviewing the post I wondered about tread ratio on the corners and was surprised to see how much there is in both videos. You definitely grabbed a lot of people's attention.
