1997 FXD Super Glide Gas Gauge
I've gotten a lot of good info from this forum when I had my M50 so I thought I'd ask here.

I have looked all over the place online, looking for a replacement gas gauge for my bike. It seems that all I can find is gauges for later models. My gauge is mounted just below the gas cap on the dash. It has about 8 allen bolts that hold the trim ring on, and the gauge itself is mounted under that. The glass or poly lens that covers the needle is almost too cloudy to read through. Can anyone tell me where to look to find a replacement? "

Hmmm, is that a custom job there?
What moco shows as your model's gauge seems diff from what it sounds like you've got on your scoot.
I get this when I look up the '97 FXD gauge: Browser Update Required
Don't know why the link reads "browser update required" but it still works if you click on it (I think).

I just bought a used 1997 FXD, and it has the same fuel gauge with the same problem. I have tried using a scratch remover intended for visor shields, and I got some improvement. I was wondering whether using an abrasive polishing compound with a small buffing wheel might help. I am also tempted to try a layer of clear acrylic over the rough surface in hopes that it will form a transparent bond. Has anyone tried either of these techniques?

A Harley dealer maybe ??
I find it strange that so MANY people post that they just can't find a part anywhere........but never check at the dealer.
I wonder why that is ??
