Question for Harley guys. The local Harley dealer in central Arkansas takes the MSRP and adds $1000 to arrive at the selling price. Is this the way all the Harley dealers do business? I would like to have a Harley but still keep my GSX650. Wife has yet to approve this plan though.
I heard most accidents happen close to home, so I moved!

That's the way they start out but definitely not the way they have to sell the bikes. They have plenty of room to negotiate. It's the same with any bike shop or car lot.

What the hell am I looking at? When does this happen in the movie? You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now is happening now. What happened to then? We passed then. When? Just now. We're at now now. Go back to then. When? Now! Now? Now! I can't. Why?
We missed it. When? Just now. When will then be now? Soon.

No,H-D dealers are just like car dealers, shop around.
Most have a dealer prep and freight fee added to the MSRP but some will even wave that on a bike that they want to move.
Buying a left over '09 might even get you below MSRP at the right dealer.
That's a problem they didn't have in the past but those deals are out there in this stinking economy.
Just like cars,a particular model that is highly desired may be marked up due to supply and demand, they will get what they think they can.

I'll tell ya what,if you have financing outside of the dealer or better yet cash I'd be looking at late model used bikes right now as there's tons of them out there.
Buy an '09 or '10 that's just barely broke in,one that someone has already paid the "Harley Tax" on (stage 1 tune) and bought a transferable extended warranty for and maybe had that expensive 500 mile first service done on.
Said buyer may have lost a job or has other reasons it's got to go and will sell at a loss to get out from under the payments.
    just my 2cts.

When I bought my Electra Glide in 08 I paid MSRP period. It include first 1000 mile service and 2 hours labor on any work I wanted done. That was before the economy tanked but they are still doing deals at that price. Left overs are less and they still eat the 1000 mile service..................

Thanks for the replys about Harley purchase. I have laid the groundwork for a future purchase, I bought my wife a new Car (SUV) for mothers day. (She doesn't know the whole plan yet though).

Just to set the record straight, the Sportster 1200 is 74 cid not 88 cid.
The Twincam Dyna grew from 88 cid to 96 cid in 2007.
