    Rebel Tool kit

What's with the itty-bitty tool kit in the Rebel? At first I thought that maybe the guy who sold me it might have skimped on the tools and kept them for himself. Now I learn that it's possible that that is exactly what Honda is giving for the bikes? Why skimp on the tools?

I think all bikes have nearly worthless tool kits. I have never owned a bike that had very many and the ones it does have are usually so cheep that they look like they would break with any use at all.

PS, have you enjoying the Rebel?

i found my tool kit useful... Hell during the NC trip we combined rick's, clint's, vinnie's and my tool kit together and we had almost all we needed.

Yup! I went out with my BIL tonight for a little bit. Cloudy but no rain, so that's good. I need to get different boots though because the heel on them kept making me shift into other gears. And then I'd forget where I was at originally... and trying to calculate s h i t like that on the road was frying my brain. I'm an English teacher, Jim, not a math teacher!!!

I've been ridding for a long time and I still lose track from time to time. My Gixxer has a gear indicator, so, on it I just look down. But, otherwise, if I forgot, I would just up shift until It would not go anymore and went from there. If I was slowing down and forgot, just keep down shifting until it doesn't bog down.

I've put 10,000 miles on my bikes and still forget where I am quite a bit actually. I don't have a gear indicator or a tach and the bikes pretty quiet so when when I ride with some loud bikes I can get lost so to speak, but I am getting better about it lately.

BTW, I do count my gears when downshifting and that does help.
As much as I've tried to get lost, everywhere I went, there I was.

Hmm ya... I may even retract my previous comment in the "tacho" thread! Clearly this is the reason why people have tachometers!

I actually counted the whole route, but when I'd get in my zone of just riding -- and then having to slow down/down shift -- I'd just think to myself CRAP... what gear am I in? For me to even count down I needed to know where I was. It's especially bad in the 3rd and 4th gear where I can't remember if I shifted up or down!

I think most people should make themselves a useful tool kit. I know people who carry wrenches that don't even fit the bike they are on and all that. Its really funny though, you have to wonder what the people who put the kit together were thinking.
I would have said sorry for spilling gasoline all over him, except he burnt to death when I accidentally dropped my cigar on him.
