cb 900 question
saw a cb 900 for sale the other day, and was a bit of a loss when describing why it had the "hi - lo" shifter.
other than to say that it was a concept honda tried, I didn't have a thorough answer.
do you?
My best answer was that the "lo" range was to make the bike more of a 1/4 mile kind of machine whereas,
the "hi" range was to make it more of a cruiser.

It provides 2 different final drive ratios.
I knew a couple of guys that had them years ago and they both treated it as an overdrive/extra top gear.

M-J Member of the Month!!
Found a website dedicated to them. Honda CB900F, CB1100F & CB750F Motorcycle Articles, Pictures and Information
I poked around some and it basically gave the motorcycle "10 speeds" which was a bit of a fad at the time from what I read. I didn't spend enough time to find out how it works though.

I purchased an 82 Honda CB900f myself. This will be my first running bike. (Newbie)
Where do I look to see if my bike has this hi/low switch?
I am doing some work to get it road worthy. Needs; starter, rear break caliper, and the chain gains and loses slack as the back tire rotates.
Second question, does anyone have any ideas where I can find one of the original style fairings for this bike?
Thanks in advance for any help, Randy
