1979 Hondamatic CM400A
One for you....
Restored a 1979 Hondamatic cm400a last fall. It ran but the throttle was very boggy. You had to throttle up and down to get it to kick in and gain speed. Rough idle and stalled. I had not done the carbs so I purchased two carb kits from Loud Fast and Ugly. I have now installed the kits but it ran worse. No matter what I did it was worse. Went over carbs 5 times seeing if I missed anything. Gave up and installed two cm400T carbs. tight fit on the intake boot but it worked. Starts on first button push. Idles fine, throttles up well. Put it in gear and throttle up and it bearly moves. Sometimes if you play with the choke before it takes off. Driving into the shop and it smells rich. Some times not. WOuld increasing the float level provide more fuel in these carbs. Bend tab up or down to increase level. Jets are 112 and 70. Any other ideas?
