Lightbulb Problem with VTX, it is mystery...???

    Hello,

I would like you to ask for advice. We VTX 1800R and this way from the Alps started to clown bike. When the engine warms up enough, one cylinder is not as it should, it really twitch, rapidly increasing consumption and exhaust deleted black smoke. But only after heating, cold does not, or not to such an extent. My friend has a shop to repair bikes, so it apart and found that it really does not roll back. But we do not know the cause. The cylinders are fine, valves as well. All we can check them in order. We restarted the control unit, but neither before nor after the bike is not flashing any code on any error. Just now we go to 100 octane fuel, because it does not flicker so bad. But the problem is still there.

We have this moto second year and up to now this has happened, otherwise it rode great. There are VanceHines exhaust. You should not experience what it might be and how we can repair it? We do not want to buy a lot of sensors and components, which would be well to solve the ”mystery“ may not contribute.

    Thank you very much. Vera.

Do you NOT have a dealer or other qualified shop nearby ??
That would be my suggestion......as amateur mechanics often do more harm than good when trying to work on a fuel injected engine.

It sounds to me like an injector is sticking open when it heats up.....but that's just a wild guess........and there might be some important information lost in the "translation".

Knowing the model year of the bike might help, but we don't have many Honda riders here.

Yes, Honda service center is near. We put the bike there for repairs over the winter, when we come to it, what's wrong.

The private person, what the bike looked to repair motorcycle alive for several years. Just does not work in big-authorized service.

VTx Build 2002 is the year in Ohio. Otherwise I do not know what to say. The problem is that one works half-cylinder when the bike heats up. Increased fuel consumption. But if we use more expensive gasoline (100 octane), the problem with ease, but continues. When riding the bike is ”jumping“ twitches ...

    Thanks for the ideas.

My guess is that you have a fuel sensor going bad. There are only 3 main things that can make a difference in a bike not running correctly.
    1. Fuel or lack of
    2. Electrical - Spark
    3. Mechanical - Parts, sensors etc

If it was working OK when you took it to them........and it was not when you picked it up.......MY course of action in a case like that would be obvious: MAKE THEM FIX IT.

Continuing to ride it that way may be causing additonal damage.

You could try some injector cleaner but my bet is that it will not solve the problem completely.
