Would be better to have the year of your Katana.

What you need is the service manual.

    Cool fuel tank hook up

Hey, I have a 1991 Katana 750 , and I replaced the gas tank . There were (5) five hoses in all. The one long skinny hose connects directly to the fuel level sensor that is the round spaceship looking thing on the right side of the tank. NOTE: There three long skinny hoses two on that lay on the top of the carburator and one that comes off of the right side. the two that lay on the top are most likely the vacuum lines. The next two hoses connect to the petcock which is located on the left hand side of the tank ,when the tank is sitting on the bike as if it were actually installed. Again NOTE: these two hoses are, or should be very short as compared to the other hoses I mentioned earlier. These hoses will also be contoured to fit. What I mean is when you put the petcock back exactly the way it came off one of these hoses will be on the left side and the other will be on the right side of the petcock. I know that this may sound stupid , but the two short hoses should not have moved when your friend removed the tank. The short hoses are pretty stationary , and you will be able to see that when you look down on the bike where the the tank goes. I hope that this will help you a little.
