    650 V-Strom price

I'm really interested in buying a 650 V-strom to replace my Marauder so I visited a Suzuki dealer in a nearby town to see if they had one. No....they didn't have one.

The salesman informed me that they would be receiving the 2007 models soon if I wanted to come back for one. I asked what it would cost me and he said that it would be about $7,500 out the door. Am I wrong for almost laughing in his face?

Just out of curiosity, how much did you Wee Strom owners pay (new or used)?

I bought a 2005 model in March for about $6510.00 OTD. Might be the addition of anti-lock brakes that has jumped the price up some. Seems like the 2006 models were going for about $6700.00 MSRP so that would be about an average non-negotiable price.

One delaer called me a week after I bought my 2005 model and said he would have sold me a 2006 for $6200.00 before taxes, tags, etc. I think mine was $5995.00 before taxes and all that jazz. But they also threw in a tank cover too. It only cost $30.00 for the tank cover but hey,, every dime counts. I also paid to have the handguards installed but they didn't charge me for the labor.

Thanks for the reply. It was a Non-ABS model that he quoted my. He said "MSRP is about $6500, taxes, (insert fast mumbling) I'd say $7500 out the door." I have the feeling that he was trying to pull one over on me. I outsmarted him...i think. lol

If anybody else wants to chime in I'm all ears.

That is too much for even the ABS model. Shop around. I bought my 2006 at the end of June. $6200 OTD.

I agree. Like I said,, sounds like a dealer that is selling at the regular price if not even more then. Price one dealer,,ask what his best price is,,,call the next dealer and tell them that #1 offered this price,,,what is the best price he can offer and will they beat his price,,,call another and tell them the lowest price you got,, and so on and so on and so on until you get the best deal.

Last fall (end of 2005 season) there were two area dealers that let 2005 V-Strom's (DL650) go for $5800 OTD, a DL1000 go for $6900 OTD. If you don't mind waiting the later in the season you will get the best deal. Worth your time to shop around.

The dealer that sold me my 2006, cost him $5350. Then he had to pay an employee to set it up. He had it tagged at $6599. I got it out the door for $6200.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm gonna hang tight and wait for a good deal. There are only 2 Suzuki Dealers (that I know of) within an hour of me, and the second one I called said $7589 otd. Both dealers were out of 2006 models, and no used ones.

Differant dealers have diff. prices on prep and freight. If they want to sell you a bike tell them to reduce there prices on the prep and freight to help you out ... my 2 cents

I couldn't help but notice you said the dealer didn't have any '06's left. Then you say you almost laughed in his face??? Seems to me he's selling them pretty good, no? I understand wanting to get a good deal, believe me, but it doesn't seem like the dealers prices are too far off for your area. Different bikes sell for different prices all over the country. I have people laugh at what I paid for my KTM (625 SMC) all the time but the dealership I bought it from NEVER has any on the floor, and for each bike he's got at least 10 buyers. Not trying to piss ya off, just saying from everything I've heard about that bike it's worth every penny. I've seen them on Ebay fairly often, very new, with mods, and they seem to hold there value very well. If it were me this is where I'd be looking, that's where the deals are!

    Good Luck
and Congrats on a great bike!

Awww,,,now that was taxes, tags, and all,,,but that is cool,, I only owe $5000.00 on her now.

I will have to pop in here in the evenings now. Not a chance in hell of ever getting on at work again unless I get a wireless laptop,,but oh well. Yea I am going to try to pop in at least every couple of days and say hey.

    Give me a buzz sometime.

Wow, I forgot all about this thread, lol. I gave up on trying to find a 650 Vstrom around here for a decent price. I'm just gonna hang on to my Marauder for the time being. Thanks for all the info though!
