highway 395 vs highway 95 NV. to WA, which one is better?

I'm going up 395 to Kennewick, WA. from Cold Springs NV. Cold springs is about twenty miles north of Reno, NV. right off of 395. When I put this info. into my GPS, it says, go up 95, I would have to go back to 80 and then up 95. Can some of you guys that know those roads tell me why even the google map directions say, take 95? I'm already up 395 about tweny miles, why would it tell me to backtrack to 80 then east to 95. Could it be 95 is a better road with more gas stations and motels. Thanks.

Depends on what you're looking for. 395 is going to take you through a lot of winding roads, some mountains and some VERY remote areas in SE Oregon. Not to mention you're going to be doing most of your riding in areas where the speed limit is 55. Great place to ride through if you're not in a hurry.

If you're trying to get there fast, taking 95 to Boise and then jumping on I-84 would definitely be the fastest way to go.

If you take US 95 all the way to Lewiston, you'll end up near some great motorcycle roads, particularly near the Snake River, south of Asotin. Then you can head west through the WA wine country. Smelling the vineyards on the ride through from Waitsburg to Pasco on WA-124 is one of my favorite things.

Just saw this post is a month old. Hopefully you were just planning the trip, because riding through that area in last month would have been COLD.

You must have your GPS set to take you on the "fastest" route, if you want to take the more scenic route set your GPS for "shortest" route.
