Western States Motorcycle Adventure
In mid-August of last year, I took off on a month-long trip. I rode an '07 R1200GS Adventure. The TransAmerica Trail was my primary guide, picking it up in Trinidad, CO and following it all the way to the coast. I skipped some of the very sandy sections in Utah and altered direction a bit through Nevada to take a detour up to Idaho, but for the most past I stuck to the route. Some of the sections were impassible on such a large, loaded bike, but the whole trip was a blast.
Please visit my blog Adventure Motorcycle Rider & Triathlete to watch the Trailer and Movie in HD, read a little back-story about the trip, and view some photos. I tried to post the videos directly in this post, but it won't take and I don't have an HTML option. Sorry...please check out Adventure Motorcycle Rider & Triathlete!
I'd appreciate any youtube comments you'd like to share!
Cheers - Alex

When long-distance riding (which I do often), I start alone most times and meet up with others along the road. Its a fun way to travel and being alone I can stop and go whenever I want and don't have to consider what anyone else wants to do. When riding in a group, I feel I'm penned in. I've ridden all of Western Europe, Israel and the US at one time or another. I used to have a 750 bmw, a 250 bmw and a 500 Gold Star BSA when doing most of that. I now have a 03 Suzuki Volusia which doesn't allow me to take many of the rough roads I used to take, but then, I'm also older now and not so happy getting all shaken up on a regular basis. Still, I avoid freeways and take my time, often spinning off in different directions to see sights that catch my eye. I never know where I'm going when I set out, except for where I hope to end up. I love riding.
