    Dan,

I just bought one of these 2 weeks ago as I had to remove the wheels to get new rubber and while I was at it, pull the drive shaft out to lube it up. It definetely did the trick, but one complaint I have is that the bottle jack it comes with is cheap.
Getting the bike lifted was smooth & easy, but lowering it was another story. This unit uses foot levers for raising and lowering the cylinder. The lowering lever is tricky. I used my hand and ever so slightly pressed on it and it would start to go down very slowly, and with a little more pressure on the lever, it would then freefall down about an inch until I quick released the lever. I would then have to repeat the process until lowered fully.

It may just be my unit, but for $59 bucks I'm still not complaining. Just make sure you strap the bike down, the lift has eyelets on both ends for the straps.

    Hope this helps.

    Dan,

Just watch the Sears flyers. You can score one of the Craftsman brands for as little as the Harbor Freight unit, up to about $99.

The harbor freight one is perfectly good, but you can often get a better one on sale for about the same price. But if you catch the Harbor fright one on sale then it is a great deal.

I'd say it's a good deal, I think I payed $50 for mine on sale. It can be a little jerky but like all things you learn to work with it. I've used it on 4 different bikes and in a pinch to change a transmission. I like having the thing around.
