How many times have you been riding down the road, look down, and, WOOPS , your signal is still on !! We've all done it, and probably still do from time to time.
Ive been street riding since I was 16, and I still have double check myself now and then while riding, to make sure they arent on.. ;-)
Hahah, when I was pretty new to riding I was driving down a public road. There was a car making a left turn from a parking lot on my right. They started to roll out RIGHT in front of me then suddenly slammed on their brakes. They scared the crap outta me.......so I CLEARLY flipped them off with my gloved hands. Yeah......about 15 seconds later I realized I left my right blinker on lol!
Every now and then. I try to gaze at the indicators every now and then to make sure I'm not inviting trouble . . . but it still happens from time to time.
NOTE:
These were made for a Burgman, but I see no reason they wouldn't work on any bike. Unfortunatly, I don't know of he is making them anymore. They look very easy to make, using a cheap 12 v beeper from "Radio Shack", spliced into the signal wiring. I know there are more products out there.
HD self-cancelling POS signals. Not kewl at all. I try to avoid using them. I do forget sometimes, though. But it's ok because eventually I have to pull in the clutch lever to upshift or downshift, so I can "unextend" my left hand.
I can almost hear their thoughts. Is he waving? Is/was he turning? Is he catching bugs with his hand? Is he an idiot?
I recently changed the angle of my windshield and now the turn signal indicator is reflected in it right in front of my face and about four inches high so I can't miss when its on
this is a big joke with me and fellow riding buddies...we give eachother a little honk if behind, a "flashing had signal" if ahead.
funniest moment of daytona bike week: my friend honks at me and i turn mine off...then a minute later i give him the "flashing hand signal"...he had left his on but was telling me to turn mine off. we all had a good laugh at the next light.
i ALWAYS leave mine on...sux! other riding buddy has a Kaw Vulcan and it is self cancelling!
It happened to me yesterday even though it had been a couple of months since I last forgot. Getting in the habit of obsessively hitting the cancel button helps avoid this problem
