    Hey

    Hey everyone,
Two years ago my wife and bought a new pair of Burgman 400's. The idea was to get out and get some fresh air and see the sights in an affordable way since we both own pickups. After two years of name calling as I rode and "why didn't you buy a motorcycle", I did. As I told everyone, I finally got the bike to match my leather jacket. The M50 design has me written all over it. Since the only new one I could get was 2009 (and no longer blacked out), I saw no reason to buy a new 2 year old and lose that immediate value, so I found a good deal on my '07 on Craigslist. I never used Craigslist before but I trusted the seller and everything went smooth. I forgot to tell my wife before a family member did it for me, but as the dealer said it's easier to say I'm sorry than to ask permission (but I don't ask permission anyway and I didn't apologize either) This is my first motorcycle and I couldn't be happier. I read many of your posts and did research on Boulevards to decide this is what I wanted. Thanks to everyone here that left the info needed to make that decision. I taught myself to ride within a week and only set it down once because I popped it out of gear instead of into second while turning. All it did was break my clutch lever at the breaking point. I made a splint and shrink wrap repair which turned out excellent and away I went again. Since I figured out what I had done wrong, it never happened again. I only wish I had learned to ride 20 years ago. I look forward to learning and sharing info.

    Welcome.
I hope you have since replaced the broken lever.
Having it come apart in your hand while pulled in could cause a much MORE serious accident.

Actually I used two strips of aluminum, then two pieces of aluminum tape to hold in place. The shrink wrap is for electrical wiring which bonded and glued it tightly around the lever and then I snipped the end after it molded around the ball end. When I showed it to the local shop, they were impressed by it's effectiveness. In the spring I have a few projects for it and that's one of them.
