Greetings all. Just checking in with a quick intro. Location is Oregon and bike is a 2011 Suzuki C50T. Fairly new to street riding but did some dirt bikes when I was growing up. Now that I'm in my late 40's figured it's time to do some of the things I've always wanted to do.
Also bought the wife a '06 Honda Shadow Aero with 1k miles. Man the fun factor on that bike is great! I love my C50 though, too.
See ya' around the forum.

Welcome, I did the same thing as you. I always wanted a bike but never had the chance to learn to ride. Do you wish you had done it earlier?

Absolutely...I wish in hind sight I could have changed many things. Between raising a family, working tons of hours and traveling, it just never materialized.
How about you?
Thanks for the welcome.

I had a dream in my 20's that I would be killed on a motorcycle. I thought, no biggie I don't have a bike. Then I got the itch after my wife and I got a couple scooters. I wanted to get my wife out because she doesn't work and she's handicapped from a cycle accident when she was 20. It's gotten harder for her to pedal a bike. She has a white Burgman. I'm really proud of her for getting a cycle license. Cycles are more appealing and more mods can be done. Plus I took a lot of crap for the scooter even though it was a Burgman 400. People wouldn't believe that it would go almost 100 mph ( I got mine to 96). When the jokes that happened behind my back started getting said to my face, I decided to put the scooter out to pasture. Funny thing too, most of the flack I took came from non cycle owners. Post some pics of your bike, it's easy to do. Where you located?

I'm just SW of Portland, Oregon. Great story, and I can relate totally. Although I never cared to get a scooter, the Burgman larger scooters are cool. But I'm still a bit large for them. In fact, my C50T feels a bit small for me sometimes...but for a first bike is probably about right. At it's weight of 550lbs or so it's been pretty easy for me to ride and fairly comfortable. In late '06 I had some major health issues pop up and slap me in the face at age 44. My prognosis wasn't good and honestly it woke me up to the fact my priorities were a bit out of wack. After making it through all of that I'll never be the same physically, but okay to ride most of the time. My abilities improve each time I crawl on the bike though. But I'm a fair weather rider and probably always will be...at least at this point. My wife on the other hand has been a little slower at riding. She pretty much hangs out in our town cruising the back road neighborhoods and such which is perfectly fine with me. When she's ready to venture further out I'll be waiting for her...no problem. Traffic here is horrible most of the time, but with a little ride we can be in the country back roads or in the mountains. So with any luck this summer will hold day rides for us.
It seems as though lots of folks lately (like me) are realizing that we aren't getting any younger and finally following some of their dreams. In my case it's probably just as well I didn't street ride years ago because hotrods and street racing were in my past and knowing me I probably would have been stupid. Or rather, allot less safe than I am now. Thanks for the share!
And thanks for the welcome waynebike!

I agree, I think I would have done something stupid and probably wouldn't be here today. As far as fair weather, we got caught out of town with our scooters and I was doing 92 in the rain trying to get home. The Bridgestones that came with the Burgman impressed me a lot and I'm not a Bridgestone fan. BTW, I wasn't intentionally doing 92 (something stupid) I was tired of getting hit with hail and was close to home and lost my sensibility.
