I just signed up today because I like the bikes on this forum. I purchased my new bike last year and put over 5000 Miles on it last summer. I just took it for a ride this week and it's really cold here but I can't wait any longer so I changed the oil and took it out in the cold.
I fabricated my own luggage rack with a lockable storage box for small items. Looking for some saddle bags but I don't want them too big to cover up the bike's look.

Nice looking bike. Stay warm out there. It is 80deg. here today. Sorry just had to say that. Normal temps here this time of the year would be hi40s to low50s.

Welcome Tony, where you located? Could you show us a closer look at your lockable rack?

I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, right across the river from Detroit, Michigan. I will post more pictures of the rack when I get back to the shop. I am also looking for more comfortable handlebars because I find that I'm leaning forward and after a few hours of riding, I want to lean back to stretch my back. If I can't find anything, I will look into making my own handlebars or maybe making some spacers. Thanks for your input.

Here are a couple more pics of my custom luggage rack with lockable storage box. I'm considering adding a small back rest for my girlfriend but it might take away from the look that I want.
Next fab will be handle bar risers. I would need to probably extend the brake and clutch cables. Any advice on the cables would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How about if you build a padded frame that goes around the edge of your rack that you could swing up and lock in place for her backrest? It wouldn't need to be big as long as it was strong and had a good swing mount with upright lock system. By the way, nice work on the rack.

Thanks for the input, sounds like a good idea but now I have to make sure it looks good and not just an after thought. She doesn't ride with me a lot so it's really not a top priority right now but I would not let her know that, ha ha. I am now working on the handle bar risers. It's coming along.
