That may be technically accurate but quoting alternator outputs at speeds much LESS than normal idle just confuses matters.......since you should never see that in normal operation.

And I think that the headlight doesn't come on until AFTER you release the start button the first time but I'm not positive of that.
Don't believe everything that you think.

I have done a decent amount of work on cars but motorcycles always seem to be a different animal. One thing that I have always found to be helpful--on top of great advice from those who know more than me--is a repair manual. Definitely helps get the job done right.

definate +1 on the repair manual, although some manuals are written with the thought that you have been in the repair field for some time.
always nice to get advice from those who have been through the problems before.

Hi, many thanx to all you guys who tried to help me get my hard starting problem fixed, I finally found it, and of course, now it`s logical and so easy to understand, the head gasket was blown,I found it by using oil to seal the piston in a compression test, compression went up to normal, so I presumed sticky rings, we don`t have Seacomb here, so I put in a tablespoon of ATF, but warmed the motor up first to enable better penetration, the oil ran straight out down the barrels and dripped onto the floor.I put a new gasket this morning, and it strarted immediately, excellent, once again, thanks to you guys for the help.

Thank you for letting us know the solution. You would be shocked at how many people do not do that.
