Beer. Nature's Unstoppable Force.
I believe it was the Black Racer.
Every year I have at least one encounter. This year, a buddy was helping me clear some vegetation from the East side of the house. I was knee deep in the shizzit, and he was standing off to the side. My dogs were to my left, chasing lizards I assumed. He was laughing because I was telling them "Show me!" When I say "Show me!" to my wife's Dachshund, she'll go to every stinkin' spot in the yard where a lizard will congregate, and then root, dig, bark, chase, crawl through anything to hunt one down and kill it. The Pit Bull mix, she'll play with the lizards, but the "Dash-Hound" is a stone cold killer.
So I'm assuming they're chasing a lizard, because I initiated the "Show Me" command. Both dogs are into it, my buddy remarks that they're a little animated, and my past experience tells me, even though I'm not looking, but by their sounds, they have something else. I stand up to say to my buddy, "I think they have a sna....." And here they come...the little one (a mini...tops out at 7lbs. Has killed possums twice her physical size by shaking them.), has a snake about the mid-section, she's violently shaking it as she steps out of the tall grass. The pit seizes the opportunity to get in on it, when I step forward. She grabs the snake too. They both sit there and proceed to get into a violent tug of war that last about one point three seconds when in their head shaking, they ripped the snake in half, the business end went up in the air, I ducked, and watched my buddy's face as his eyes got big as pie plates. The snake landed on my head and the gut side slapped me right on the left cheek. I didn't know whether to be repulsed or piss myself laughing. Of course, the pit mix is now jumping at me to get her fair share of the kill dripping off of me and onto the ground.

Mics are also more expensive because they are produced in France and imported in the USA. Goodyear is produced in the USA, so you don't pay the shipping and import duties.
Fulda and Continental are produced in Germany.
Bridgestones and Toyo are produced in Japan.
Tires, in general, will get more expensive, just like everything else. The oil price has little direct impact - tires are made of rubber and silicon, with steel belts. The high cost of steel, along with higher energy costs (electricity for production, diesel fuel for transportation) are what are causing the prices to rise right now.

Never again with these VW's. I've owned a couple. Love the way they drive and handle but they are a pain to work on and everything seems more expensive for them.
You're buying the wrong tires.

Good story. Like Jeff, I too love snakes. I've owned a couple of Ball Pythons previously. Never again, but that has nothing to do with the snake itself.

Hankooks and Kuhmos are produced in Korea and are generally cheaper and work as well (or fairly close) as top name tires. At least in the narrow segment I shop in.
BFGoodrich (tires as opposed to the Aerospace division) is owned by Michelin.

I always thought tires contained petroleum products.

I'm sure there is a bit of petroleum products used in the making of tires

Why must people drive like A-holes??????
I get up really early to avoid these assclowns and I still find them doing the same thing. Racing to the next light or passing me at speeds higher than 80 just to turn at the next light!!!
The two that had to race to the merge lane this morning...you both deserved the comment I gave you this A.M

They gave me a look like they were shocked.
