Considering an '01 Connie to Buy

Anybody got any thoughts or considerations for me.

The bike is in decent shape. It's in the shop being freshened up now. (Carbs being cleaned. The bike sat a while.) And some other maintenance details being attended to.

It has 68,000 miles on it. Should I be concerned or is this biz as usual for a Connie?

I had a 2001 Connie until last year. I put about 65000 trouble free miles on. That's not much miles, 200k is fairly common. you might be interested in the cog (concours onwners group mailing list)
you can find the cog list at:

Neighbor called last night, asking me if I wanted to take it for a test ride.

A friend just sold a late '90's Connnie with close to 90K on it to buy a newer low mile Honda ST1300.
Never had any trouble with the big Kaw,just wanted a newer bike.
That said with those miles I'd expect to get a substantial discount over a low mile bike the same vintage.
Shop around a little and see what they are going for.

I have a friend with one and he swears by it.
I look at it as a Kawasaki (Honda) ST1100.
Fantastic bike, built for comfort and high miles.
If the price is right, and this is what you're looking
    for, jump on it--IMO.

He was going to ask $1500. But let it sit too long. It's gone in to have the carbs worked over, new tires and some other freshening. So he's looking for $2500 now.

So he's expecting the new owner to pay for his neglect, sounds like an Obama supporter to me.
