Ok Amigos, i have a 1986 GS550l That i obtained on a trade, for a Chinese scooter, the bike ran ok but the Carbs where trashed, (Previous Owner Syndrome), so i order a replacement Carb and got it on the mail put it on, the bike did started but it was running lean, and it was leaking gas out one of the carburators well i took it apart and found lots of junk inside the bowls i clean it up, and now the bike starts and run but only when the choke is on, if i take the choke off, it will sputters and die, i try messing with the needle jets but now i think i made things worst, anybody know the correct way to set the needle, i found a place that said turn them in until they hit bottom but dont over tight , then back them out 2 turns, i have done that several times with no luck, anyone have any idea it will be apreaciated :madd:
Multi-carb bikes can be a PITA to tune, did you buy all new carbs or just one?
The "needle jets" if I get what you are saying are just idle/low speed air jets and probably not your problem.
Even the pros can have a hard time dialing in 4 carbs (you have 4 or 2?) as there is an art to syncing carbs.
I think you may want to have a shop help you out,me thinks you're in over your head on this issue.
Is a 2 Carburator setup right along the top there is 4 adjustment screws, i keep turning them and i can get the bike to run, but then it will die as if it ran out of gas, i take the bowl drains when this happends and there is gas on the carbs, lol i think i have to fork some money and have this carbs profesionally rebuild.
