Hey guys, got a quick question on a '82 GS1100 I picked up this week. Did a search for threads on this bike and only found one. I hope there are guys with these bikes hiding in the corner somewhere waiting for a chance to come out of the shadows and answer my question. The 4-1 pipe currently on the bike is junk. I prefer the look of the 4-2, but was wondering about performance/sound. Louder to me is better, and "go" is always good. I've seen V&H 4-1 and Mac 4-2. Does anyone have any preferences? Glad to find this forum, noticed that the Zook section has the others way beat in regard to number viewing. That's encouraging!

I have an '80 GS1100 with the factory 4-2 "megaphone" exhaust. I'm not big on the looks but it does sound good, however, it is pretty quiet for a bike. As far as performance, I wouldn't know because 1) it has only ever had that exhaust and I've never driven another bike like it and 2) the head gasket is blown so I have driven it very very little recently.
