I am having the same problem with my 82 gs550 that it turns over but wont start. did you ever figure it out?
Have you checked the fuses, And i suggest getting a manual.
Whatever you ride ride safe and keep the rubber on the ground and the shiny side up.

i just bought a restoration project 82' gs550 and it has the same problem. push button does NOTHING, but i can jump the starter and it turns over. ive taken the button apart completely and had the starter checked. its still good. ive checked my fuses, all good. and i still cant figure this one out. how bad would it be if i just got the thing in running condition, and just started it by jumping the starter every time and just left the electrical work for last?
