Filter and Oil
Hey everyone, first time thread...I've got a 2007 suzuki m50 boulevard and would like to know what non suzuki brand and weight of oil to use, which non suzuki filter would be best. Is it true that synthetic oil isn't good for the clutch? I would appreciate some advise.

You might do a search on "synthetic", lots of opinions on the proper oil to use. Main thing, use the proper weight oil and not energy conserving. I use Rotella, couldn't decide between regular (15W40) and synthetic (5W40) so I mixed the oil 50/50 between the two. I use a Super Tech ST6607 oil filter from Wal-Mart on both my bikes, It is made by Champion and it higly rated. In order for you to use it on your Suzuki you will have to change the "nipple" to different threads though.

NO, not true.
ANY oil that is labeled as "energy conserving" is bad, synthetic or otherwise.
I use Mobil 1 bike oil......which probably is overkill as it's expensive.
A lot of riders here use Rotella T Synthetic (yes, that is diesel oil).
Seems to work fine and is a LOT cheaper than other synthetics.
If you are not budget restricted, any bike specific oil of the proper weight will be just fine.
I have an S50 and a Honda.
M riders can chime in about the filters and more oil opinions.
Everybody has one.........

PS.. I use stock filters from the dealer, mostly because I'm too lazy to shop around and I typically only change once a year so the savings would be minimal.

Just pick up some Rotella15-40 Dino and a Hi Flow HF138 filter. Your bike will love you.

I'm pretty sure on bobistheoilguy. Com hi flow got the best review for motorcycle filter. Also, if you go synthetic, make sure it's a true synthetic, base stocks 4 or 5. Do your homework, your bike will thank you. Royal purple is what I use. Love it.
