Been looking/drooling at this bike, too.

If I wasn't in the middle of buying my house, I'd likely go ahead and grab one of these sweet things.

Hm, mid-year purchase? *wanders off running numbers...*

Is that because they can't get the rear tire to hook up. I had a 98 and it was one wild ride for sure. I can't even imagine another 50 hp.

it's always been an ugly duckling, about the only thing that distinguishes it from the rest of the pack.

    The legend continues...

You either love 'em or hate 'em. Personally I've always loved the look of the Max. Always wanted one, but had to build my skills before owning one of these beasts. Finally bought a mint '05 last spring.

The Gen 2 Max is really something to see in person. Much better impression IMO.
For now I'm satisfied with the '05, but the Gen 2 is certainly impressive.

a guy at work who just recently got back to the cycle world saw one the other day.

he couldn't believe it pounded out 200 hp; then he said "going broke buying back tires wouldn't fly with the wife."

nor would the 15 k to take it home.
