    wont start

I own a 2005 Yamaha VSTAR 1100C with 13K miles on it. I bought it used from a dealer. I replcaed the battery, as it wasnt keeping a charge so it was time to replace it. Ive driven it a couple if times and went to start it and it wouldn start. There is power to the head light and it wanted to start but wouldnt. I think it might be the starter, any suggestions?

I was just going over things, and realized that i replaced the grips and had to take the controls apart. I may have a loose connection. WIll jump on that as soon as i get home. HOPEFULLY thats all it is.

Yes. Don't overlook the obvious and run off on a tangent.

What EXACTLY do you mean by "wanted to start but wouldn't" ??

The obvious guess is that in addition to the weak battery that you replaced, the real problem was that the charging system has failed and THAT was what was letting the battery go dead........and that is STILL happening with the new battery.

You need to charge up the battery, get it started and check the charging voltage with a meter.......or ride it to a dealer's shop for a test.......but be prepared to leave it if it fails.

If you continue to charge it, ride it, charge, ride, charge, ride.......it will eventually leave you stranded someplace AND it will KILL the new battery too.
