Spark and compression are relatively easy to verify; gas INTO the cylinder, not so easy.
If a little squirt of carb cleaner or starting fluid into that intake brings it back to life momentarily, then you have a gummed carb problem........or an injector problem.
If it has carbs......and seems to come to life at ANY engine speed......then a float bowl draining and healthy shot of B12 might work out the problem. If it's fuel injected, a shop can test the injector and maybe even clean it.
Most of us shade-tree mechanics can't do much with FI.
