Thats it, I'm moving to Calif! I want to ride this time of year too!
When all else fails, read the Manufacturer's Handbook!

We can ride quite a lot in CA. The only thing that stops me is the rain. I won't ride in the rain. There are times when we can't ride for three weeks stright due to rain. But I can't imagine waiting for four months or longer. But when you live in the snow country, you can't ride for months at a time. So you don't even think about it. Now, we wonder, we're looking out the window to see if there is a possibilty of rain. So we have a litltle more stress than you snow people do.

Today is mostly cloudy with some wind and 55 degrees. It might rain tonight.

    Feeling any better?

I got out and rode through the foothill wine country today. Pretty nice, but it was only in the mid to upper 50s. I'm pretty sure your feet would get cold.

I read somewhere that the bike will do 100 in 4th. So, I took it out and I decided to shift into fifth at an indicated 90 mph. That's probably 80-90 real speed. I would imagine the top speed is around 120-125.
In the end though, a cruiser is like the truck of the bike world. Lots of torque and slow in the turns.

I have to battle the tourist traffic so I tend to keep my RPM's up to be able to get out of trouble quick but on average I find 5th at about 65.
