v star 1100 when changing oil on baron relocation kit post came off

The post came off with filter when it was removed. Had oil changed when had rear brakes done and filter was over tightened at shop. How do i get post off filter and why did it come off?
Thanks in advance for any replies

believe it screws into the housing. it should screw out of the filter with little effort. protect the threads with a rag. and use pliers. one jaw inside and one outside.
