What kind of training is that? How to keep the sand out of your weapon, or how to identify the terrorist in a crowd?

training, you know, training. Recognizing sand, identifying a sandstorm, what to do if caught in a sandstorm. As well as dealing with different kinds of sand.

Did I mention sandy sand, too?

Couldn't put "fail" across Lolo's picture, but she did come in 4th in the 100 m hurdles - still one heck of an effort.

    Chicster Update...

Here's an update from our very own Chicster.

Weather has been frikin' cold. We even got snow last week, then I followed that up with a nice walk through the woods for around 10 hours (split between day and night) for land navigation practice. It was about 30-35 degrees that day, so it made our trek quite exhilarating. Oh, yeah, through a swamp area. Honestly, I love that kind of crap, so it wasn't bad. Did give me a cold though. Seems to be breaking off now. I'm feeling better, and the weather seems to be getting warmer now.

I would like to check in with the MJ.com weight loss thread. Probably shed about 20 lbs already, and it feels pretty good. Trucking around with almost 60 pounds of body armor, plus water and an assault pack sure burns a lot of calories. I have been watching what I am eating, too. I wish I had a scale.

Got about 2-3 weeks more of training, then we pack the pallets with our gear. We are getting a 4 day pass before we go. That would be a nice break. The Queen will be coming down and we are going to head east for a few days, just to get away. We almost planned on coming down to FL, but I don't want to spend the 4 days traveling all over the country, so we dropped that plan.

Well, tell everyone that cares, I said hello. I am feeling good and am actually looking forward to the upcoming mission. I hope to get some more job specific training in the near future so I can have a little warm and fuzzy.

Thanks for listening. I will keep in touch, and again, I hope to get to meet you gents in person on the flip side of this year!
