Yamaha claims that the roadliner & stratoliner can get up to 200 miles on a tank of gas. That would equal about 48 mpg. I'm getting about 130 miles per tank which is about 32 1/2 mpg. What are other roadliner or stratoliner riders getting?
While I've only got 345 miles on my Roadliner so far, I've avg'd about 37mpg. Much of that was in town with some road miles.
On a ride yesterday with about 110 mi and 85% highway (some 2 lane, some 4 lane) I avg'd 46mpg with the windshield on. And it was pretty windy also, so I was pleased with that.

Dealers tend to over exagerate the fuel milege. The say my M95 is supposed to get 50mpg. Yeah down hill with a tail wind and the cluch pulled in. I only got about 38 - 42 mpg untill I put on a Thunder Air Kit, Cobra pipes, and a Techlusion TFi EFI controler. Now I ge 48 mpg when I keep the rpms down.
I'm averaging 43-44 mpg with my roadliner midnight, got almost 1200 miles on it now. I'm doing most of my riding in and around town, no long trips yet. I do ride fairly easy most of the time, but it's too much fun not to hammer down once in awhile.
The mileage seems to get better the more miles you put on these things. I ride in the mountains alot 2up with my wifelus1: . I have been averaging about 45 to 48 around town and short trips. I recently took the trip from Colorado Springs to Buena Vista and averaged 52mpg. Thats uphill with alot of hiway speed driving. The bike is stock. :bluethum:
Now that I've got some more miles on the 'Liner, the mileage has gone up some. After the 600 mi service I noticed it rise about 2mpg, so I'm averaging about 44-45mpg. I am a somewhat conservative rider. For mainly highway mileage, it has been around 48mpg with the tall w/s. I suspect the windshield may cost about 2 mpg on highway speeds (65-75).

( I, too, really enjoy this 'Liner. Not much for cooler weather riding so I will not be riding much this winter. We at least get some days that it will be warm enough.)

It's interesting to hear about cooler weather riding in Texas and other southern states. I live in Michigan and spend quite a bit of time riding when the mornings are 36 to 40 degrees and afternoon highs reach a sweltering 50 degrees.
I wish the tank was bigger but if I get 40+ mpg after break in I'll be very happy !
My Valkyrie gets 36 if I'm smooth & gentle. :bluethum:
I am gettin' a midnight strato in a week or so..........depending on when the insurance $ comes.
I'm gonna put those Corbin bags on her.
What color bag would look good with black ?
I know that black would go good with any color but I was thinkin' that a grey carbon fiber kind of color might look sweet.
I paid 14k for mine OTD. It's an '06 that I picked up in June. I took it on a 3,000 mile trip with the stock seat and stayed comfortable the whole time. I love this bike!
You have to consider the piston bore size. You have to dump the same amount of fuel each time so there isn't going to be much change. It all depends on how soon you get to 5 gear and leave it there. No running through the gears like a mad man. To get 200 mpg your going to really baby it. No down shifting to pass, no down shifting to slow down. 20 to 30 is probably all your going to get most of the time. Hay! what can you expect when you ride one of the fastest road cruisers. I went 171.1 miles on a tank and filled up yesterday with 4.1 gal = 41.7 mpg on my stock Roadliner S. It has 1000 miles and is stock. The count-up odometer had 5.5 miles on it. Have done a little better with less city stop-n-go traffic, as high as 48 mpg. I don't pin it all the time, but I don't baby it all the time either.
I'll see how mine does after the 4000 mi service. She's put away for the winter and I've got 3900 miles on her. So it looks like everything's on hold until March or so.
