    Help

    I just bought an 82 gs650L the guy said it needs a carb rebuild but my question can I use something to clean out the carb or should I rebuild it

    You should have told him to fix the carb and THEN talk about the asking price.

    If it runs at all, drain the gas if it's old then put in half a tank of fresh gas along with twice the recommended dose of Berrymans B12 Chemtool (two ounces per gallon of fuel) and then run it a few times over several days.

    If it improves, you're good to go.

    If not......be sure you can get a rebuild kit for the carb BEFORE you start taking it apart.

    I think it might be well worth a few bucks to get a professional shop to look it over.
    If it has a minor problem with not running right, it might not be the carb at all.

    I never buy a used vehicle of any kind where the seller says "It only needs (anything)" except cosmetics.
    They are often wrong about what it really needs.

    SeaFoam was not designed to be a fuel system cleaner and it is marginal for that use.

    AND it costs about 3X what a good cleaner like B12 or Gumout does.
