87 intruder vs 700 no spark

Hi Guys I have an 87 intruder vs700 and I have a no spark problem. I have replaced both coils but that wasn't the problem. I have fire going into the coils but none coming out. What can cause such a problem? I'm stumped.

    TIA
    John

does your bike have points? if not your stater trigger might be bad.

WHS^ the trigger needs to break the current to the coil primary windings in order to induce a high voltage in the secondary windings which provide the spark. Unfortunatly most are integeral to the cdi unit.
