Does anyone know what could be up with clear smoke (or steam) coming out of the front of my V Star 650 at the end of the day (about 50 minute drive home). Doesn't happen on the 50 minute drive in the morning so I'm assuming heat has something to do with it.
The weird thing is the bike runs perfectly fine. The smoke or steam goes away after about 10 seconds of turning off the bike. I can see it in the headlights at night and when I turn off the bike to see where it's coming from it's already gone.
Okay. I will look closer. Old coger, by front disk, you're thinking it's not an engine thing? (I'll check tonight when I get home and keep the engine running while I check.) I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your help.
Just a guess, no one can be sure without seeing the problem. I am guessing you would check for obvious oil leaks and such, expanding beyond oil leaks dragging disk brake pads could heat up the disk brake. Try to note any unusual smells, sometimes an unusual smell can lead you to the problem.
The smoke is coming from the engine. It was hard to see but it was definitely coming from the engine area. Not sure exactly where. No weird smells. No smell at all, actually. ? Any guesses now? I will check for oil leaks... but what else? Thank you all.
If it is something stuck to the front of the engine, I would try getting it nice and warm and power washing (carefully) the front of the engine. Hopefully it goes away...
