I voted for Yes, everything but engine rebuild because I'm just too darn cheap to pay someone to do anything that I think I might be able to pull off myself and on the motorcycle, so far at least, that seems to be just about everything.

I just did an oil change, and have installed various mods (engine bars, windscreen, etc.). But when it gets down and dirty (brakes, valves, etc.) I prefer to let someone who knows what they are doing do it...

The shop did my first service. They did not tighten the timing mark cover and one of the plug wires was not hooked up proper, it came off on the road. AUGGGGhh. I will be doing it myself from now on, that way I know it is done correct.

I do everything but rebuild the motors, except those on my old bikes. When the Gixxer needs help, I'll take to Texas and pay Nut!

The last time I had work done, one item on the list was to replace the left foot peg. They did it. But halfway home it didn't feel right to me. I pulled over to see that all the bolts were ready to fall out. That could have been a bad accident with my foot unexpectedly hitting he asphalt. If it happens now, I know who did it!

I don't particularly like rebuilding motors myself anymore. I'll do it if I have to, but sometimes it is just easier to let someone else deal with it.

So who do you trust with the heart and soul of your ride? I don't need it rebuilt yet, but someday. I don't trust anyone local here. The Gixxer is a keeper, so her time is coming.

Depends. You need to start looking around at the racetrack for starters. There are a LOT of respected and well known engine builders in the L.A. area. You just have to find them.

I always ask a LOT of questions before I even think about taking it in. Talking to racers helps.

To maximize my free time I just have everything done by a mechanic I trust.

When I spend time with my bike it's to ride it ! Already more than enough stuff that always needs fixing to keep me busy.
