The gorgeous Italian classic that you see in the below pictures is the 1973 Ducati 750SS and it was the firt ever motorcycle that arrived with a four stroke L-Twin motor that had desmodromic valve mechanism for general public. With a history of intensive racing with famous victories made this Ducati 750SS one of the most sought after motorcycles of its time. The 1973 Ducati 750SS is widely considered to be the 1972 Ducati racing motorcycle that won the prestigious Imola 200-Mile in 1972. Ducati sold a total of 401 units of the first 750SS. Back in the early 70’s the 1973 Ducati 750SS produced a commendable maximum power output of 72bhp at 9500rpm and was capable of hitting a maximum top speed of 220kmph.

The first Ducati I ever saw, and the first I ever rode, was the 900cc version of this bike! It belonged to one of the sales guys at Heyser Cycles in Laurel, MD in '74. I was so captivated by it on the showroom floor that they asked me to ride with them that weekend (I had a 74 Norton 850 Commando). It left such an impression on me that I now have a Honda SuperHawk....I love V-Twin sportbikes!! :D
