2002 Volsuia Oil Change

Just got a Volusia with 2000 miles on it, but no manuals. Does anyone know the oil capacity of the VL800 with a new filter. How do ou check the level (visual)?

As a side note, Mr. Bunny called a reputable radio mechanic and was told that it's a good idea to put synthetic in after 1500miles.
I'm guessing that with an '02 you have more than 1500 on her.
