I started having problems with my 2003 5-speed Vinson when I got it. It was last winter and I noticed that it was extremely difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd. Impossible sometimes until you would downshift and try again. The shifting lever would get stuck in the up position then would snap down into gear. Also when going from reverse to forward it wouldn't shift sometimes. I brought it back to the dealer shortly after. They said "the idle was too high" and suggested that I might be shifting it wrong.. This is not my first manual shift ATV but it is the first one to shift like this. I took it home and sure enough it acted up again. Not all the time but quite often. I would frequently get stuck since by the time I could get it shifted into second gear I'd be stopped. I brought it back to the dealer again and told them I think that it must have a bent fork or something. They took it apart, found nothing wrong and said the Suzuki rep. that was there at the time thought I was crazy. They could find nothing wrong with it and had me take it out back and ride it around. Of course I could only get it to do it once and the mechanic thought I must not of pulled up hard enough! It's been almost a year now, I only have about 130 miles on it since I mostly use it for plowing in the winter and little trail riding but it still shifts like s**t! I have to rock it back and forth to get it to go into 1st, the lever sticks up occasionally, it's difficult to get into reverse sometimes, and upshifting is very difficult at times. Shifting while going down hill is also impossible at times, it just wont shift. I've had it miss 3rd and 4th gears only to make a horrible grinding noise before slamming into gear. These do not happen all the time, especially the last thing but the others happen frequently. This all seems much worse when the Atv is under load such as in the mud, snow, plowing, and desending hills. I have been on several sites and have noticed that several others have had the same problems. I called three dealers today to see if they've ever heard of these problems and they said no of course, even the one I've brought my machine to twice?? When I reminded him of this he was like "oh yeah, we had you test it out here to see if you could duplicate the problem." What is up with that, are they trying to cover this up or what, several others have had similar experiences with dealers? I need help, I'm very dissatisfied and am sick of getting the run around.
