Hi,new here.

I'm looking at a 2004 used maurader.I guess they call the 2005 an M-50.

Aside from the obvious differences(fenders/bars)...is there other difference like gearing/speed between the M-50/C-50?

How do the 2 differ in ride comfort?

Thanks in advance

The M50 is not the same as the Marauder. The Marauder was discontinued after 2004. I have the '04 and love it. I find it very comfortable for both me and my wife. It has a chain final drive, which needs more maintenance than the shaft M50, however it allows for a change in gear ratio (?) meaning if you do a lot of highway riding you can do any easy switch of sprokets to get the RPM's down. The maintenance is not a big deal on a chain. I'm sorry I can't compare as it is all I've ridden...but I am happy.

Thanks for the input. I did not realize the 04 M had a chain. Not a big deal to me though.Actually, one of my concerns was that it may be a bit high revving on highway,as it was designed for a steet cruiser (maybe).A chain offers flexibility.

The M50 has fuel injection vs. carbs. The body panels are almost all plastic on the M50 (fenders F&R, side covers, tank bezel, headlight housing, etc.) The clutch is cable operated on the M50 unlike the hydraulic one on the Intruders and I believe Marauders also. The real suspension is significantly different also. The fork angle is different making handling milder on the M50

Fenders are plastic. I have sat on the Volusia but I don't think there is a lot of diff. I think your legs will be a bit straighter on the Marauder. You can also get risers on the bars for pretty cheap. For a barometer on what you should pay, I paid $7700 out the door. $6600 ++ in august , brand new. $1100 of the sale price..

Thats it....trappercase THERE IS OUR ROAD TRIP!!!! kwel.. Glad to see that we have others in our small part of the world. Helix call any dealer and ask them what the back book list for a price, If you add around $5-600 that is what it should go for. The dealers use the black book when they buy bikes from us. They will always add at least $1000 to the black book price when they put it on the show room floor.
I just got off the phone with Hitech Power Sports in Moncton. The Black book price for a 2004 800 Marauder with low Kms and in perfect conditon is between $4300 - $6300 plus tax.
Call them, ASK FOR IAN he is the owner, tell him that Brad sent you, he will treat you right. = www.hitechpowersports.com

Good luck....

I know Ian.I am in the snowmobile /atv clutch business. My friend and test partner died last lear(Scott Fraser)In a sled accident. Scott built cars for Ian. Last time I saw Ian was at the funeral. i may give him a call.
I been thinking about something like one of these bikes just to get out and cruise a bit ,something not work related. I've got sleds that would outrun a hyabusa for fun in the 1/4,but not looking for anything fast like that from a street bike.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Small world. Last summer i had a booth at the International ATV show in Kentucky,..Up the isle there was a guy(from Moncton) I talked to for a bit that was displaying a Yamaha Rhino with a Roof system they build. Someone later told me that guy that did those was Ian's brother.
Scott had a cabin on the same lake as mine(Southerlands Lake)...I miss that guy.
My website is www.daltonindustries.com

Moncton is not far away, and i'm in no big hurry(still swamped in sled stuff, but starting to cool down a bit),I'll swing in there someday and have a look too. Right now this model caught my eye quickly because I know a guy that wants to sell one,he lives in New Glasgow, and from the pics I have seen ,I like it.
