I read in sports rider magazine the following:

"At low revs around town, it's virtually impossible to shift smoothly, as the jerky throttle and driveline lash combine to make for a rough ride unless you are either very aggressive or very gentle with the throttle'

I was seriously considering this bike but this sounds terrible. I was planning to use this bike to cruise around town (local roads and some highway). It does not seem that this is the bike. IBased on my research it seems the Honda CBR 600 is more refined.

Can anyone give me some feedback on whether the quote above is accurate statement about this bike. Thanks.

That's why it has an "R" in the name. It's a race bike. Don't expect a bike built for max performance to be gentle to you on the street - especially the new fuel injected models. They haven't worked out all the bugs yet.

On the other hand, that review does sound a bit overdramatic. I'd bet that anyone could get used to it and do all right.

Yeah dude you kinda gotta use common sense, Yamaha R6, suzuki gsx r 600 and the cbr 600rr are all racing bikes. Yes they are bikes ppl ride through the streets but they were made for racing. Hell just look at suzuki's slogan for the Gixxer "OWN THE TRACK" it doesnt say "OWN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS"

I think that any bike; with practice; can be driven smoothly. All sport bikes have quite touchy throttles but it IS true that the CBR has the least grabby throttle of all (mind you this does not mean that the bike is inferior in speed in any way).

Strange though you went from a GSX R750 to a CBR 600RR? Why the great change in cc's? If you liked the GSX R then try a 600. It sounds like I drive somewhat like you were explaining. I take it to work and back every day with my shirt and tie outfit under my coat

I read this post and then picked up my new gixxer 750. I don't find it jerky at all. I mean if I would keep it in first gear yes..but just around town shift up to 2nd and it's smooth at lower speeds.

For instance I'm getting back into riding from 17 years off..and even the first day I could take that gixxer and run it smooth. So if I can do it..anyone should be able to.

I think that my 04 750 is actually smoother shifting and riding around town than my 02 750 was. I have no problem riding around town. It cruises just fine in traffic.
any idea of the top end speed of our gixxer 750? I was out today and opened it up alittle with noone on the highway...in 6th at 7k rev I going a hundred...and it red lines at 14K.

Guess

I guess indicated. That's what it showed on my speedo. How do you find the other if i'm wrong? I realize that my speedo is off the faster I go, but didn't know by how much and how to correct it.

P.S. I've got stock sprockets on it.
