I'm looking into getting a 2004 RMZ 250. I do alot of mountain/trail riding and a little bit of track. Does anyone have experience on this bike or know how they rate compared to the rest, also how it would perform in the mountains? I have heard stories of them overheating and was wondering how much of a problem this really is. Any feed back would be greatly apretiated. thanks

Hi Futball22. I haven't had a chance to ride one of these bikes yet, but I've spoke to many people about them and read a whole bunch. They seem to be a great bike but yes, prone to over heating. I believe this is a simple fix with a higher preassure rad cap. Also I don't know where your from, but here in Calgary Alberta there is a bike shop selling this bike brand new for $4999 canadian. Here is their web site www.blackfootonline.com If you decide to call them, ask for Lucas, I've dealt with him before and he's a good guy.
Good luck.

haha, thats kind of funny, i just bought mine from GW cycle in calgary, they were selling them for 4999 as well. After reading a bunch of articles, i found out the same information as you about the rad cap. I also think that the people who are experiencing those problems ride in places like california, not places like weiperous. Thanks for the help though, it was nice to see a reply. I can't wait to get the bike out, all of this half warm weather is teasing me.

I'm glad to hear that you bought your bike at GW. I bought my '03 RM250 there last year & they treated me real well. If you have to buy parts, make sure you deal with Ross there, he really knows his stuff. Stay in touch, I'd be interested in knowing what you think of the bike after you have a chance to ride it.

Yeah, I will let you know. With the weather we got today I dont see me getting out anytime in the near future. When I get my parts at GW I think I am going to go through Brad, hes the one that runs the race course for them. When I had my street bike he always treated me well, same with Trevor (the salesman there) me and him used to go riding on the week-ends. It is definatly a nice little shop that they have there.
