I just bought a 06 katana 600. I am a female rider but I do all the work on my bikes. The bike will start if
I push it, but won't idle unless the choke is on. When I stop it leaks gas, can I get some suggestions please. I'm dying to ride this bike! Thanks.
Where does the fuel leak come from? There are many reasons a bike will not idle...usually its the tiny idle circuits that are clogged but this would not explain the fuel leak you have. More info will help...ie why do you need to push it?...what condition is the battery in? Is the starter motor or any other component in that system defective that you know of?
Does it have a stock air box and filter on it ?
Most bikes need some choke for the first few minutes before they will idle good.
Having no air filter in place, or a high flow one, makes them run lean and increases the need for choke.
Might need to tweak the idle speed up a bit too.
Using some good carb cleaner in the gas might do wonders too. Berrymans B12 Chemtool and Gumout are good. SeaFoam is NOT.
