Hi, when I try to rev the bike when it is idling the bike labors and dies. The gas was smelling of varnish so I drained the tank and put new gas in it. All four of the spark plugs were black/burnt so I replaced those too. I have to start the bike with the choke on and i can never get it to run if I take the choke off more then half way. I have let the bike warm up and it sill wont let me rev. Any ideas? I have no idea what I need to do.

Pull the carbs and clean them. Sounds like they are gummed up with varnish too.

That is was I was kinda thinking, not sure if I would be able to do it. How hard is it to clean carbs? I have also had people tell me that BG 44k is great for cleaning carbs. Ever used this stuff?

Never have used it. You'll need to re sink the carbs once they are clean and reassembled. Might want some one with experience to help or take it to a shop.

Make sure you order new float bowl gaskets before starting. Also, get a hand-impact for removing those float bowl screws. they have a propensity for stripping out real quick.

Use Gumout or another CHEAPER carb cleaner (it's all the same). That should do the trick.

Don't sink the carbs, just synch them. It's not so hopeless that you have to throw them off the bridge!

You could also try a dose of Seafoam in the tank. It might get the bike running better. Really, though, you should do a full cleaning.

Im running some seafoam through it right now. I can rev it now, but it hangs at the higher rms for a while then slowly goes back down. Im going to get it running good enough that I can ride it down the the shop and have them check it out. I have been running it for 15min at a time. Dont want to piss of my neighbors.

Well I can hit the throttle now, but it still dies when I put a load on it. It was really nice yesterday and I wanted to take it for a ride, but it just didnt want to go. Just going to have to keep running that cleaner through the system, hope it helps.
