I just bought my new Suzuki today and from what I've pulled up on the net its a GS550E. If anyone knows of a website with a pic of the bike please let me know so that I can confirm. And Yes I've checked all of the obvious things.

Anyone with the same bike? Give me some feedback on it, much appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the pic and info. Looks like we have a winner. Im in the process of half stripping it down and doing some engine and cosmetic work on it. Need new seals in the forks. Thinking of doing minor tune up, oil/filter change plugs, wires etc. Want to get a K&N Filter. I noticed @ 100km/h its running @ 5-6k rpm in 6th gear, I'd like to get a smaller rear sprocket. Anything else Im missing? Like some carb work?

Thanks again

p.s. It does have lots of bite, Im very pleased with it. :)

Forgot to ask. I noticed on the fuel control valve there isnt an off position. I've noticed 'On' 'Res' & 'Pri' but no off. I'd like to remove the gas tank (which is still half full) to get @ the engine, but I dont want to remove the gas lines in fear of spilling gas. Any suggestions?
Thanks

No choice but to remove gas line at some point if you want to take tank off. You could try clamping off the hose that conects to the tank.

hey there, nice to know theres another person with the same bike. the "on" "res" and "prime", On is the "OFF" position. no worries about taking the tank off with it on ON. "Pri" is for Priming the carbs, say if you drain them or whatever. and you know what res is probably, when the fuel gauge gets into the red, should put it on res. My bike at 100km/h revs at 5500, 6000 for 110km/h, seems to be for every 500rpm is 10km/h. i am also wanting a smaller procket, even better gas mileage on highway driving which is what i mostly do. But it screams to 190 like nothing with the 4 into 1 yoshimura and k&n. I have been having a hard time find the filter pod K&Ns for my GS, just the k&n for the airbox is all i can get. If you find filter pods, let me know.
I have layed mine down several times and it shows it, had the front brakes lock up this year, last year i hit black ice and put her down doing 40km/h. This picture shows the side the hasn't hit the ground, both time was on the right side.... :(
shes a tough old girl with lots of life left at 82,500 km on the odometer without a rebuild motor, never been apart. just oil changes and filter every 2000 kms. I have replaced a few stators and regulators

this picture is kinda big?!?!?!?! is screwed up the whole page i guess....

1st off lemme confirm that notion about having another GS rider on here, and being from Canada is a plus, seeing as I lived in Canada all of my life up until 6 months ago. 20 min from T.O. 2nd, about the gas tank removal I noticed 2 lines to and or from the tank. Are you telling me that if I put the valve on the 'ON' postition there will be no spillage (or very little) when I remove the lines? Im a little confused about that one. 3rd and lastly, can you explain a bit more about what the K&N Filter Pod and K&N Airbox. Is the Filter pod the actual fliter? and is the airbox the filter housing? Sorry for all the questions.

P.S. I like the 4 into 1 Yoshimura Exhaust, must SCREAM!!!
Thanks

I'm also a GS rider. The best site on the web for the old Suzuki GS line is:

www.thegsresources.com

They cover all the older air cooled bikes and have an excellent technical section. Its' been around now for 8 years.

Go to the forum section and then to the technical section....lots o' info there.
