Hi All,

New to the forum. Looking for some advice. I recently purchased an '83 Magna with about 22k miles on it.

The bike is in superb condition as far as I can tell.

The issue I'm having is when I get between 4.5 - 5k rpms the bike starts making what can best be described as a "screeching" noise which differs from the normal whir while accelerating. The screech occurs while moving or stationary.

It sounds like perhaps something is rubbing/rattling when it hits the right frequency.

Anyone have any similar experiences and thoughts on what it could be?

Thanks for the help.

Update. I've been tightening up everything I can find. I haven't found the source yet. My fear is that it may be engine internal. I'll keep tightening and see if it goes away.

I also don't notice when dropping through the rpms. Only when i'm accelerating or holding the throttle steady at those rpms.
