Hi first of all i have a gsxr600 97 runs good great shape and everything. ive been wanting to get a newer one and yesterday i drove a friends 2k5 gsxr600 and im not for sure if its cause im use to mine but what i have feels better to ride on. What ive been looking at is a 2001 whats everyones opinions on the differences. I know carbs to injection is the main thing. So how does the 97's compaired to the 2001 along with the 2001's compair to a 2005. Does the 2001 have a steering damper shock cause that was something i wasnt use to at all on the new one. Thanks
O if anyone wants to know id be selling mine and adding 1500 to get the newer one and it has pretty much the same mods.

The bike is located in Indiana and its sold for 3500 if i do decide to get rid of it.

I drive an 04 GSXR 600 and it is safe to say that compared to a 97 it's quite a bit faster and more easy to control. The 04+'s come stock with a steering damper but I'm not sure about a 2001. The difference HP wise with an 01 and an 04 won't be too much significantly (same as between a 97-01) but if you hop on the 01, then immediately the 04 you would notice the difference. If you upgrade to a 2001 you should be more than happy with the HP and handling. Every year bike's are becoming faster even though the cc's are the same. An 05 GSXR 600 would hold it's own pretty well against an 87 GSXR 1100. Also don't worry about a damper; if your bike doesn't come stock with one there isn't as much of a need for one :roll:

Yea ill try and use better grammer. And i went from a 97 straight to an 05. And didnt really notice that much difference in the take off. The 05 is stock and all I have is a pipe sp pretty much the same mods. The main difference I noticed was the handling since im use to the no damper and the way the 97 handles wasnt for sure if i liked the 05 handling better. But i guess when i first got my 97 then it felt wierd also, and the fact that the 05 wasnt broke in and wasnt my bike i didnt push it that hard. Thanks for the info.
