I bought a 97 katana 600 about 3 months ago...about a month ago i rode it on a fri and saturday and then come sunday i go to start it up and it would not start...it would try to turn over..but would just fire up.....i have had a new jet kit installed and the carbs have been cleaned...i have a mechanic doing all the work but he cannot find out what is the matter....the cdi box is good, and the coils are good also...it has compression, fuel and spark....what can it be?

Are you 100% sure the coils are good? Sure sounds like a weak coil. Get a manual and a meter and check the specs if you haven't done so already.

Air, fuel and spark is all you need. It has to be lacking one. Fresh plugs?

this guy is a mechanic at the local motorcycle shop..but works out of his garage too...he doesnt have a manual and either do i....but i would think he knows what hes doing....its been down at his garage for a month though :S

What's the sequence of events regarding the carb rejet, the carb cleaning and the problem?

Yea....this problem took place in less then 24 hours...and the mechanic first looked at it and thought that the jetting was off and was not the right thing for the aftermarket yosh that i have...which is weird because it ran perfect for 2 months of having it and then one day it just goes bad...so he did a new jet kit..and still didnt fix the problem

Not sure what's happening if your mechanic has properly eliminated the problems mentioned above.
