98' Gsxr 750 Valve Adjustment

I have a 98' GSXR 750 with alittle over 10,000 miles and the top end is starting to make alittle bit of noise. I heard a couple of different things about the valve train these engines have. Some people are saying I need buy shims from tha dealer, and some are saying they are adjustable. Could you point me in the right direction to do it or get it done correctly?
